Wolfram Virtual Technology Conference

4 November 2024 / Alessandro Mastrofini

I had the privilege of participating in the Wolfram Virtual Technology Conference 2024, held earlier this month, where innovators and thought leaders from across industries gathered to share advancements and ideas centered on Wolfram technologies. The conference continues to serve as a dynamic platform for exploring new tools, cutting-edge applications, and fostering collaboration within the Wolfram ecosystem.

My contribution to this year’s event was a talk titled “Solid Mechanics: Plasticity”, where I delved into recent upgrades to the Finite Element Method (FEM) implementation within Mathematica. Specifically, I showcased enhancements designed to model elastoplastic behavior—critical for analyzing how materials deform and yield under stress.

During the presentation, I walked attendees through the theoretical foundations of plasticity and demonstrated how these improvements enable more robust and efficient simulations. These advancements open new possibilities for engineers and researchers tackling complex mechanical problems, all while leveraging the intuitive and symbolic capabilities of Mathematica. Attendees engaged in lively discussions about real-world applications, including structural analysis and material testing, emphasizing the practical value of these upgrades.
